APPLICATION OF NGS–ILLUMINA IN PREIMPLANTATION GENETIC TESTING FOR ANEUPLOIDY PGT-A

APPLICATION OF NGS–ILLUMINA IN PREIMPLANTATION GENETIC TESTING FOR ANEUPLOIDY PGT-A

1. Course Introduction

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is one of the most popular and effective assisted reproductive methods today. However, the proportion of implantation failure leading to early miscarriage remains high, especially in older women. Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) would analyze the genetic nature of embryos, screen, select morphologically and genetically normal embryos, reduce the number of embryos in one transfer, and lower the rate of multiple pregnancies and abortion, as well as preventing birth defects.

The course “APPLICATION OF NGS–ILLUMINA IN PREIMPLANTATION GENETIC TESTING FOR ANEUPLOIDY PGT-A” will provide an overview and help us understand the advantages of embryo screening technology using the next-generation gene-sequencing technology. Students will comprehend the latest genetic disease screening techniques; proficiently perform Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy PGT-A, analyze results, and solve technical problems.

2. Teaching method

  • Team-based learning: encourage critical thinking, creativity, and proactive learning through group discussions, and group presentations
  • On-the-job training: Students observe and practice alongside the lecturers
  • Teaching equipment: A 300 m2 Lab with modern equipment from many well-known manufacturers around the world
