SINGLE-GENE TESTS IN THE PROGNOSIS, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF CANCERS

SINGLE-GENE TESTS IN THE PROGNOSIS, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF CANCERS

1. Course introduction

Gene mutations are one of the causes of cancer cell development. These mutations alter the number or function of proteins that regulate cell growth and division, leading to the over-proliferation of cells.

Nowadays, it is significant to train Vietnamese medical staffs on global advanced cancer diagnosis techniques based on single-gene tests. Moreover, these testing techniques also help to predict the probability of treatment success for the patients.

The course “SINGLE-GENE TESTS IN THE PROGNOSIS, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF CANCERS” will improve the capacity of the Vietnam healthcare system, raising the quality of healthcare services, and promoting individualization in targeted therapy for cancer patients.

2. Teaching method

  • Team-based learning: encourage critical thinking, creativity, and proactive learning through group discussions, and group presentations
  • On-the-job training: Students observe and practice alongside the lecturers
