1. Course introduction

Breast and ovarian cancer are among the most common types of cancer today, related to the inheritance of the BRCA1/2 gene mutations. BRCA1/2 are tumor suppressor genes, which help protect the body from uncontrolled growth of cells. Mutations in the BRCA1/2 genes may affect the growth inhibitory function, causing cells to proliferate uncontrollably and develop into tumors. 

The course "SCREENING OF GERMLINE MUTATIONS OF BRCA 1/2 IN THE HEREDITARY BREAST AND OVARIAN CANCER SYNDROME BY NGS–ILLUMINA" is conducted by the Phacogen Institute of Technology to provide an overview of breast cancer, ovarian cancer as well as technological solutions to detect BRCA1/2 gene mutations.

  • Overview of the breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. New technological solutions applied in breast cancer diagnosis
  • Overview of some next-generation gene sequencing methods, advantages and disadvantages of each method
  • The principles of the next-generation gene sequencing technology on Illumina's Miseq system
  • Library preparation and sequencing steps using the BRCAaccuTest kit of NGeneBio
  • Analyze results on NGeneAnalySys software and create reports on analyzed data
  • Course summary, Q&A, Certificate awarding ceremony
