Coffetalk: BRCA 1/2 mutations in breast cancer

On April 9th, the Phacogen Institute of Technology held a Coffee Talk session on the topic of "BRCA 1/2 mutations in breast cancer".

The lively discussion lasted for three hours with the attendance of over forty guests, including clinical doctors, oncologists, gynecologists from Viet Nam National Cancer Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, Hoan My Saigon Hospital, and professors from the Department of Medical Biology and Genetics at Hanoi Medical University.

Notably, the Coffee Talk was led by three leading experts in the field of cancer and genetics, including:
- Prof. Mai Trong Khoa - Former Director of the Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Center at Bach Mai Hospital. Head of the Oncology Department at the Ha Noi Medical University, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hanoi.
- Ass.Prof. Pham Cam Phuong - Director of the Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Center at Bach Mai Hospital.
- Dr. Bui Thi Phuong Hoa – Medical Genetics Department, quality of Vinmec High-Tech and Regenerative Medicine Application Center.
The exchange session focused on two main topics:
- The significance of BRCA 1/2 gene mutation testing in breast cancer screening and treatment.
- Sharing genetic counseling methods for breast cancer patients and their families.
In an open and intimate atmosphere, many opinions were shared from clinical, genetic counseling, and testing perspectives. This has opened up many new issues that promise to be interesting topics for future Coffee Talk sessions.

Coffee Talk is an activity organized by the Phacogen Institute of Technology quarterly, aiming to create a forum for exchanging knowledge and multidimensional perspectives among leading experts and healthcare professionals across the country. In 2023, genetic cancer was chosen as the main theme of Coffee Talk sessions. The first Coffee Talk was held on April 9th, 2023, with a discussion topic of "BRCA 1/2 mutations in breast cancer".
